Day 2: 1 Artwork a day or I just can't play!
Another portrait for day 2, but this one is slightly bigger and slightly cheekier. It is still in oil but on canvas. It is 8in by 10in. I have enjoyed doing this angel. It is funny, I started with a whole lot of bright colours and it ended being quite pastel in the end. I had to redo the nose a few times because I was not happy with it. I have to learn to avoid trying to do perfect and that I am not doing photorealistic, because my brain still wants to take me to that place of perfection, but this is not what I want for this challenge. I really want this challenge to be about letting go and spontaneity. So I will have to learn to stop before I go too far. Well, I suppose at worst, I put it in the bin after having shown you my final result but for some reason the idea of throwing an artwork in the bin is terrifying me. I have always loved nudes. Actually when I came back to art 5 years ago, it is the first thing I did, nudes. However, I was not prepared for the criticism that comes with the subject of nudes and I felt personally attacked. I think I have grown enough as an artist to be able to accept criticism without taking it personally. I still have that fear though that people will think I am so bad at what I do. But in reality, I have to remember that not everybody will like what I do and that nowadays art has so many faces. I think I will do a few more portraits over the course of the challenge possibly in this size or slightly bigger because i have really enjoyed it. If you want to let me know what you think, don't hesitate to send me an email. The painting is posted on eBay for auction at the following address, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/273019275225
so if you are interested head over to eBay.
Thanks for following my adventure in learning to let go. See you tomorrow for another painting. X Gin
