Day 4: I decided to continue in the abstract but try a few things that I have always wanted to try and just did not have the time. This turquoise, yellow and orange abstract is made of acrylic paints and resin. So I suppose it is mixed media. I have always wanted to try the resin as just a couple of splashes on a canvas and boy oh boy, it did not disappoint my expectations. It is fantastic to use but fairly messy and so very hard to control when applied in dashes. I did manage to keep all my bibles round but it makes for the quirkiness of the piece I find.
I will for sure keep on experimenting with resin and I have so many ideas with resin that I want to try it should be fun.
In the mean time this is a very happy painting. it is colourful and the bubbles, made of resin reflect light and give the painting an even lighter tone.
I am so surprised by how much I am enjoying the abstract. I still feel a little bit like I am cheating as an artist doing this and I have to remind myself that abstract is a real form of art, It is about the colours and the process and I definitely enjoy choosing the colours and going through the almost meditative process.
I have also discovered that even though resin sticks onto most things, it does not stick onto baking paper! This is the best news ever and means I might be able to do even more than what I had I thought in the first place.
Anyway, if you like this piece and would like it in your home, don't hesitate to head to eBay to bid on it.
