Day 5: I did not think it would be so hard to paint everyday but it actually is. I have to find the time to do it everyday so that is up to 3 hours uninterrupted everyday and as it is school holidays, that makes it super hard. I suppose the hardest part is not to paint but to organise myself around the painting, for writing about it, for listing it up for sale and for preparing what I will paint the next day in the first place. Having said how hard it is, it is so worth it though. I find myself not having to relearn the technique every time! So this one is a still life, 8in by 8 in, made in oil. I love cherries, it is the season here at the moment and not for much longer. So I thought I would take advantage of the nice ones we still have.
I have to learn to trust my abilities and the process more because I still find myself every time for the first half of the painting time, thinking that it is a disaster and that it will be completely shit and then I persevere and I end up with something decent. I really like the freshness of this one. It would make a beautiful painting in a kitchen or dining room.
I am continuing to grow into oil and can do things with oil that would be totally out of the question in acrylics. May be it is because I have not mastered acrylics and it comes more naturally to me the oil way. I like the finished result but it takes so long to dry!
I hope you enjoy it and if you are considering buying it, head on to eBay
